Syracuse hits 1 in 5 property owners with assessment hikes. Grievance deadline is Jan. 31
January 26, 2024
Syracuse.com Reports:
Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse officials this month informed nearly 8,000 property owners – about one taxpayer in five -- that their assessments have been raised.
Unless city officials cut the tax rate, those property owners will likely face higher tax bills when the new fiscal year begins in July, because of the city’s piecemeal approach to raising assessments. The other 80% of residents whose assessments did not change won’t see a tax hike unless officials raise the rates.
